It wasn't a dream on Monday night. For the first time in team history, the Denver Nuggets won the championship.
What happened: On one of the most significant evenings in Mile High City history, fans spilled out of Ball Arena following the Nuggets' victory, chanting "MVP" and "Let's go Nuggets" at the top of their lungs.
Fireworks exploded as impromptu festivities appeared on the streets of downtown, and automobile horns and sirens resounded throughout the city.
State of celebration: Although the aftermath of Game 5 had been anticipated for more than 40 years,
Denver police had no plans to oil poles or take any other comparable precautions, even though a few die-hards may have gone too far.
Ale Correa, who resides outside of Denver, traveled downtown to take part in a watch party outside the arena. He claimed that the Nuggets "deserved the win."
